"Off The Cuff" Fashion Sketchbook

These are a few pages from my fashion sketchbook. I have completed my research into shirts where I have looked at shirt prints in the past, present and in new upcoming trends for Spring/Summer 2013. I have also completed my own fashion illustration of my design for my garment which is based on shirt prints.

"Off The Cuff" Texile Sketchbook

Here I have added some photos from my textile sketchbook. For my "Off The Cuff" theme I have started my research into shirts, collars and cuffs. I have also added some textile samples and a few sketches which outline my ideas.

Life Drawing

Here is a selection of some of my life drawing. This is an area in art which I had never tried before and was unfamiliar with. After having attended a number of life drawing classes I can see my work getting stronger as the weeks go on. I have used a number of different media to complete my drawings, including pencil, watercolour and mixed media backgrounds. This is a class which I am really enjoying and I feel that it has helped me with my drawing skills.

"My Space"

Here I have added of my work spaces both at tec and at home. The top image is my space in tec where I am able to work independently during my directed study time and where I am display my work for assessment.
The bottom image is where I work when I am at home.

"Off The Cuff"

"Off The Cuff" is the theme for a fashion competition ran by the National West Regional College. The theme was inspired by the old shirt factories in Derry. For the competition I will design and construct a costume inspired by the prints and patterns of shirts.

Why Foundation Diploma?

Currently I am at the Southern Regional College in Newry studying a Foundation Diploma course in Art and Design.
I started this course in September 2012 after completing my A levels in June 2012. I was extremely happy with my results, being ACC. With having the choice of applying for university I wasn't sure what course I wanted to apply for or which university I wanted to attend to.
My art teacher recommended me to apply for the Foundation Diploma in Art and Design before throwing myself into a course which I didn’t want to do.
I am very glad that I am doing this course before heading to university. It is allowing me to experiment and explore different medias and techniques which I wouldn't have been able to do in school.
Now I feel that I know myself better as an artist by having my own style and knowing which medias and aspects of art which are more relevant to me. I also have a better knowledge of what universities and courses I should be applying for.
This foundation course helps to build my portfolio and prepare me for university.
I will be uploading my work and you will be able to see my development throughout the year.
